What A Difference A Year Makes!
Wow! We can hardly believe that a year ago we were living in Almaty, Kazakhstan adopting our two beautiful children. They bring us the greatest joy we've ever known, and it's such a privilege to witness them experience life and grow and discover each new little thing life has to offer. They get such joy from the simplest things like rolling snowballs down their sliding pond, chasing bubbles, getting a kiss from Penny, stacking blocks, and most of all, knocking them down!
Justin is two-and-a-half years old now and has come a long way over this past year. He has not been speaking for most of the past 12 months, but we are delighted to report that over the past several weeks he is starting to express himself more and more. He has a new confidence and he is trying out his talking on us and is delighted when he communicates and gets results. He gave mom the best Valentine's Day gift when he said "mama" for the very first time! Justin likes to do things for himself, and is content to play with his cars and his choo choo trains for hours on end, especially Thomas!
Paige is a handful at 19 months, and we mean that in only the very best way! She's prone to whine and scream when things don't go precisely her way, and we're learning to handle these dramatic outburts in the best way we know how. Ignoring them seems to work best, but it's not always the easiest thing to do. On the other hand, she is the funniest little girl we know. She doesn't stop talking and repeats what we say like a parrot. She's got a fantastic memory which we realized when she named the characters from a TV program she saw only once! She loves Elmo and the rest of the Sesame Street gang, and especially her books. She wakes us up each morning by chanting "mommy, daddy, where are you?" She loves to eat, loves her "bibi" (the cloth diaper she uses as a security blanket) and gives the greatest "big hugs" ever!
They are growing up so fast as you can see from the photographs, and we're looking forward to the years ahead and all that parenthood has to bring.
