Final Day in Kazakhstan

It’s time to go home. The kids have no idea what’s in store for them, and we can’t wait to watch them blossom with all the love and attention they will receive in their new home and family. Justin is much more aware of what’s happening. All Paige seems to want out of life right now is a full belly!

Today we went to World Partner’s offices where we met another couple who is leaving tonight…all in all there will be four families on the flight from Almaty to Frankfurt. It was amazing to meet one family who we met this past summer at a Kazakhstan picnic in Rochester, New York! Gulnara took Paige and Justin to play with the office staff and the other little boy who was there. Before long, Paige was brought back to Chris because she was crying. It was nice that she stopped when she was back in her mother’s arms. Of course, we had to quickly get the bottle going before she really had a meltdown! Justin was away from us for about 15 minutes or so. When he was brought back into the conference room his lip was quivering and he burst into tears…tears of relief that he was reunited with us again. Poor little guy is very aware of all the changes…he’s so happy with us, and he’s come so far in the two weeks he’s been at the apartment. He’s stopped his crying when we need to go out with Emil, and today he was walking across the apartment and clapping his hands with glee!

It’s a bittersweet feeling that it’s time to go. Bitter to know our time in our children’s birthplace has come to an end, but oh so sweet to be on our way back home where we will be reunited with our family and friends, and especially our Casey and Penny! Thanks to the DiToro family they have been very well cared for while we’ve been away!

Emil will be here in about a half hour to cart us off to the airport for our 4:10 am flight. All we really want to do is get in our seats, put the neck pillows on, sit back and fall asleep for the 17 hours of flying time ahead of us. What are the odds that the kids will feel the same way?

We’ll keep the blog going for a bit longer to keep you posted on the children’s progress at home, but for now, thanks to everyone who has followed along with us through our journey. It’s meant a lot to us just knowing you were out there.
