Day 13
We had a fine day at the baby house and are psyched to have only one more day left! All four of us played together for about an hour, then the kasha and cookies and milk came in so we had a snack break. When everyone was done we bundled them up to go outside…it was a balmy 40 degrees and sunny. But of course we have to follow along with the baby house rules and bundle them up like it’s 40 below! Today we tried out the new snugli’s we brought for them, and Paige wore her pretty new snowsuit. Justin wore himself out screaming and crying as we bundled him up, so he fell fast asleep, which was fine since it was his nap time anyway. Paige couldn’t resist sleeping also, so we didn’t stay out too long so we wouldn’t throw her too far off schedule. Her group goes down for a nap at 12 noon, so if she won’t sleep (like yesterday), she gets banished to a room all by herself so she doesn't wake the other babies. The kids were soaking wet with sweat when we took their suits off…we cannot wait to dress them in the clothes we brought for them. They dress them in like 3 layers of clothing here…they believe if they aren’t overdressed, they will catch their death of cold! We’ve been wanting to play “this little piggy” with their toes, but have no access due to the two sets of tights, plus a couple pair of socks…no kidding! Paige left us at about 11:30, and then we made a big old mess feeding Justin his lunch. He wasn’t interested in finishing his buckwheat, but managed to down a whole container of peach yogurt. Today we put his leftover buckwheat in a ziplock and threw it away outside. Don’t want them worrying that we’re depriving him from finishing his gruel!!
Tomorrow we’re presenting gifts to everyone at the baby house, so we came home and wrapped them all up. We went back to the Italian restaurant for pizza, and a waitress was eager to practice her English with us. It was interesting to hear what she thinks about President Bush’s foreign policy, and she had lots of questions for us about a variety of topics. She was a very nice girl and took our email address so she can correspond with us. It was funny because our waiter seemed jealous that she kept coming over to our table, and before we left he said he wants to practice his English too, so next time we need to talk to him! At 6pm Emil picked us up and drove us to the ballet. Let’s just say some of the dancers were keeping their eye on the others to figure out what to do next, and it was 3 hours long…we’ll just leave it at that.
